Frequently Asked Questions
Where do you meet?
The short answer is the Los Gatos area. Often the Los Gatos Library. I'm open to other locations.

What do I bring to tutoring?

I will provide books, highlighters, pencils, crayons, highlight tape, and multi-sensory materials. I often use the Orton-Gillingham card deck, kinetic sand, play dough, etc.

Students should bring the following to each session:

Reading Groups
Journal
Folder
Sticky notes (creative writing)
Flash cards (reading support)

I am happy to purchase all materials and be reimbursed.

How do you accept payment?
Students not attending Ocean Grove Charter can Venmo weekly or bi-weekly. I also accept cash or check.

My student wants to take one of your courses, but is in a different grade. Can they still take it?
Let's chat! Sometimes moving a student up works well. Other times it's tricky because while they may read or write at a higher level the content can be too mature.

Letting a student take a class below their grade level might work, but we would never want the student to feel discouraged by working with younger peers.
I'm always open to chat!

What if I have to cancel?

I get it. Life happens, I have three kids, I might have to cancel too (I sure hope not!). Let's try and give each other as much notice as possible.

I want to try to always make up missed 1:1 sessions. If you miss two in a 6-8 week series, I can likely make up one of the two. You'll also have the option of a zoom make up session. Another option is your student can be charged half price and receive the material and five-ten minutes of support for a missed lesson. If I miss a 1:1 session, I'll make it up either in person or via zoom.

If you are in a group class and miss I'll send over the material we worked on. This will allow your student to stay on pace. Your student will also get 5-10 minutes of zoom or phone support from me.
